Stemming from a family of natural born artists, Rachel inherited her abilities and creativity as a graphic designer and enjoys working with graphite, charcoal, and pastels. Her grandma, whom she calls “Nanny”, is a very gifted clay pottery designer inspired by her Native American ancestry, and her grandpa creates stunning jewelry. Additional family members from the same side make professional cakes, draw, and design websites.
Growing up in the state of Michigan, Rachel always new that she wanted to move to a warmer climate. After college graduation in 2011, she married her husband and moved to the low country of South Carolina. They fell in love with the Spanish Moss trees and coastal marshes. It was here they began their family and where Rachel started brainstorming ideas to start her own business while staying home to raise her children.
All her ideas were artistic and creative but never came to completion. It was not until they moved to the state of Mississippi where Rachel had her third child that she finally found her niche and introduced herself to the art of graphic design. Her son, two at the time, loved to call himself “Hudson T-REX”, and sweetly named his mama, “Mama Bird”. Combining her skills in graphic design with the love for her children, Mamabird Prints was created. A “Mr. T-REX” print was one of her first designs. The Mamabird Prints brand continues to be inspired by Rachel’s three children and produces artwork suitable for children’s décor and furnishings.
In addition to her graphic designs, Rachel is currently working on adding fabric patterns and hand sketched drawings to her growing brand.
