Catherine Thurman is an artist who lives in Magnolia, Texas with her husband Eric, and their 3 boys - Michael, Parker & Jackson. She graduated from the Art Institute of Houston in 1990 with a degree in Visual Communications focusing on illustration.
She started her career in advertising in Dallas, then found her way to JCPenney in 1993 working as a CAD artist in the Women’s Division where she began her career as a textile designer for JCP private label brands. She discovered that this type of work was much more suited to her desire to illustrate than advertising. She’s been designing artwork, allover prints and graphics for apparel, home furnishings and paper products ever since. Her work has been used on items including all types of clothing, t-shirts, swimwear, pillows, bedding, floor mats, journals, gift bags, gift wrap and more.
She started Cat Thurman Designs, Inc. in 2014, and has enjoyed experimenting with all types of mediums to accommodate different client requests. This has made her pretty versatile and able to work in a wide range of styles which suits her personality because she tends to get bored easily.
She loves all kinds of home decor & enjoys any kind of DIY she can find time for! In fact, she probably has more than a few projects or paintings going at any given moment.
